Imperial 2 falls to Grant, wins against Imperial 1

Imperial 2’s Pee Wee team, went 1-1 last week with a loss to Grant at home and an extra-inning win at home against Imperial 1.

Imperial lost the lead late in an 8-6 defeat to Grant last Wednesday.
Grant took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Imperial got on the board in the third after Tristan Jablonski hit a single and stole his way to third, scoring on a passed ball.
Imperial also scored one run in the fourth inning after Carson Terryberry reached base on a single and stole his way to third base. Gavin Wisnieski hit Terryberry home to make it a 3-2 game.
Grant scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Imperial tied things up. Kole Clevenger grounded out, scoring two runs.
Imperial tallied four runs in the sixth inning. Wisnieski and Clevenger powered the inning with RBIs.     
The game was tied at six as Grant came to bat in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs off of a double and an error that scored two runs.
Despite the loss, Imperial did collect three hits in the high-scoring affair. But Grant had eight hits on the way to victory.
Camron Lempke started on the mound for Imperial. He surrendered three runs on six hits over three innings, striking out five and walking one.
Jablonski pitched three innings, giving up three runs on one hit, striking out five and walking two.
Kaden Vogt entered the game as relief, throwing the final inning, giving up two runs on one hit.
Jablonski went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Imperial’s offense.
“Despite a few errors that cost us some runs, the kids battled back to tie the game up in the sixth inning to extend the game to extra innings,” Head Coach Jeff Lempke said. “I thought the kids competed very well against a good Grant team.”
Imperial 1
Imperial 2 defeated Imperial 1 on Friday, 7-6.
Imperial 2 scored one run in the top of the first after Jablonski walked and Thomas Reeves singled him home.
Imperial 1 took an early 3-1 lead in the first inning. Imperial 1 scored two of the runs off a Kolter double.
Imperial 2 notched three runs in the second inning. Luis reached base on an error and stole his way to third and scored on a passed ball.
Westyn Mendenhall and Clevenger also walked and Lempke bunted two runs in on a fielders choice.
Imperial 2 had a 4-3 lead after two innings.
Imperial 1 managed one run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 4-4.
Imperial 2 took the lead for good scoring one run on an error in the fifth inning.
Mendenhall and Lempke both contributed in the inning with RBIs.
In the top of the sixth, Terryberry singled to right field, scoring Mendenhall to make it 6-4.
In the bottom of the sixth, Imperial 1 tied things up, sending the game to extra innings.
After a scoreless seventh inning, Imperial 2 took a one run lead.
Mendenhall reached base on a single, eventually scoring to make it 7-6.
Imperial 1 went scoreless in the bottom of the eighth to end the game.
Reeves started on the mound for Imperial 2. He surrendered three runs on three hits over two innings, striking out one and walking five.
Lempke threw three innings in relief, giving up three runs on six hits, three strike outs, and no walks.
Jablonski led Imperial 2 to victory. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Reeves led Imperial 2 at the plate with three hits in four at bats. Mendenhall and Terryberry also had one hit apiece.
“I thought our kids did a good job fielding against a very good hitting Imperial team,” Coach Lempke said.
“It was great to see the kids staying focused after a few mistakes and fight their way back to get the win.”
