High numbers, experience on boys’ basketball roster

The 2019-20 Longhorn basketball team will have its first contests this week.
“I’m excited,” Head Coach Chris Bartels said.
The boys’ basketball roster has 28 players, the most Bartels has had in his three years with the program.
“I think there’s a lot of schools that would like to” have those numbers, he said.
Bartels lost three seniors last year.
“They gave us a lot of playing time the past two years,” he said.
Returning starters senior Taylor Jablonski and junior Cedric Maxwell will bring varsity experience to the group.
Stepping into starting varsity roles this season include a few boys that have put in key time during JV and varsity games, the coach said.
Senior Kobe Clevenger “is going to have a bigger role than he did last year,” Bartels said.
Also moving into starting spots are seniors Bennett Bauerle and Logan Jussel.
“Those three have kind of just been waiting their turn,” Bartels said. “I’ve got a lot of confidence in them.”
