Free throw shooters move on to district contest

    Seven youths will be moving on to the next level of competition after winning their age divisions aT Sunday’s free throw shooting contest sponsored by the Imperial Knights of Columbus.
    Fourteen youths competed in the contest at the Longhorn gym, which challenged them to shoot their best of 15 attempts at the free throw line.
    First place winners here donned medals awarded by the Knights and included Olivia Spady, girls age nine; Tristan Jablonski, boys age nine; Max Schilke, boys age 10; Easton Fries, boys age 11; Carter Leibbrandt, boys age 12; Elizabeth Reeves, girls age 12; and David Weiss, boys age 13.
    Boys and girls competed separately in six age groups.
    The next step for winners of Sunday’s local contest will be districts in Wauneta on Sunday, Feb. 12. Registration starts at 12 noon with the contest getting underway at 1 p.m.
    Winners at districts qualify for the regional contest in McCook, which will be followed by the state competition.
