Eight youths move on to district free throw contest

    Eight area youths are moving on to districts in the Knights of Columbus free throw shooting contest.
    The local contest was held Sunday at the school, sponsored by the Imperial Knights, at which 22 youths took part. Eight first place winners emerged in their age groups, making them eligible for districts in Wauneta on Feb. 18 starting at 1 p.m.
    Youths had the chance to shoot their best of 15 from the free throw line. In two divisions, a shoot-off was required due to tied scores.
    Medals were awarded to the first place finisher in each age group. All participants earned a certificate. Boys and girls competed separately.
