Different look for state wrestling tournament this year

Once inside the arena, the Nebraska State Wrestling Championship Meet will have a different look in February.
    Running Feb. 17-20, all classes will be separated until the finals, which will be Classes A and D on Feb. 18 and Classes B and C on Feb. 20.
    Class A will kick off the meet on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  CT. CHI Health Center will be emptied of fans and cleaned before Class D begins and runs from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    Each six mat session will include championship round one and quarterfinals and the first and second rounds of consolation matches.
    Thursday, Feb. 18, will start with four mats of the Class A semifinals, consolation round three and consolation semifinals, followed by the third and fifth place matches. from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Class D will have the same matches from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
    After clearing the arena and disinfecting, Class A and D finals will be televised Thursday evening at 6 p.m.
    Classes B and C will run the same schedules Friday and Saturday, with finals being televised Saturday beginning at 6 p.m.

Pre-order ticket packages will not be available for this year’s state wrestling meet.
NSAA and CHI Health Center Omaha, which hosts the event, announced a new method for buying tickets.
When available, tickets will be sold individually through Ticketmaster.com. Tickets will be purchased and received digitally.
There will be no physical tickets. Fans will need to show their tickets through their email or Ticketmaster app on their phones and should have their phones with them at all times.
Tickets may be purchased in “pods” of two or four.
The NSAA submitted its event plan to the Douglas County Health Department (DCHD) earlier this month and anticipates ticket sales beginning Jan. 19.
Availability may change based on the DCHD’s health restrictions and the Governor’s Office.
