CSO all star game includes three Chase County players

Chase County will be well represented in the annual CSO all-star basketball games late next month.
Seniors Destiny Reinke and Taylin McNair will play on the girls’ all-star West Team. Ike Maxwell, a senior member of the Longhorn boys’ team, was selected to play for the West in the all-star boys’ outing.
And this year, Chase County Schools will also have an all-star coach on the bench.
Head coach for the Lady Longhorns, Mark Bottom, was selected as a West Team coach along with Sutherland’s Jason Gunderson.
This year, the games will be played in McCook, Bottom noted, on Friday, May 26.
All three Chase County athletes chosen for the games were key players on their respective Longhorn teams in the 2016-17 season.
The Cambridge School Organization (CSO) began organizing all-star games for graduating seniors of southwest Nebraska in 1985.
Over the past 32 years, the game has changed from a match up of Class C vs. Class D schools into a game in which teams are divided by a geographical East vs. West format.
The selection of all-star teams starts with area high school coaches, who are asked to nominate senior players who best represent themselves and their schools. Final selection of players and coaches is made by a CSO committee.
