Chase County wrestlers ready for opener

Experience is not at the level of last year’s Longhorn wrestling team, but Coach Matt Vlasin said attitude is way up there.
The Longhorns open their season tonight (Thursday) on the road to Oshkosh for a varsity triangular with Garden County and Bridgeport. Wrestling starts at 5:30 p.m.
Then on Saturday, all 16 active wrestlers should have the chance to compete at the Broken Bow Invitational which has both varsity and JV divisions.
Tournament action begins at 8:30 a.m. MT in Broken Bow.
With five seniors graduating from last year’s team, including Class C state champion Eli Hinojosa, Coach Vlasin said they are young and a bit inexperienced this season.
Just seven on the squad are returners. Three of the freshmen and two seniors  haven’t wrestled before.
However, the returners in the junior and senior classes are showing a lot of leadership in helping team members that are less experienced, Vlasin said.
