In the final game of the regular season, the Lady Longhorns beat Hershey on the home court, 3-1. Hershey came into the match with a record of 17-10.
All four games were hard fought, but the Longhorns prevailed, winning 25-21, 23-25, 25-21 and 25-21. That gave the Longhorns a regular season record of 18-12 and kept them on a nine game win streak, going into sub-districts on Monday, Oct. 27.
In the first round of the C1-10 sub-district, the Longhorns would face Bridgeport for the third time in two weeks. The result was the same as the first two meetings with the Longhorns sweeping the Bridgeport Bulldogs.
That advanced the Horns to the second round to play Gothenburg in the late game Monday night.
Back on Sept. 30, the Longhorns were swept at home by the Swedes of Gothenburg. Monday night, the girls gave it there all and the match went five sets.
Unfortunately, the Swedes ended up winning the fifth set, ending the Longhorn season with a 19-13 record. Gothenburg advanced to play Ogallala on Tuesday in the sub-district final after Ogallala beat Chadron 3-0.
