Chase County expects top seed in C1-11 subdistricts

It’s been a pretty good past few weeks for Chase County volleyball.
Continuing a streak of 14 match wins and not one set loss in those outings, Chase County won the SPVA Conference championship Saturday, then won it’s final regular season match Tuesday against Hershey.
The Lady Longhorns are expected to earn the top seed in next week’s C1-11 subdistrict volleyball tournament in North Platte when official brackets are released today (Thursday).
Chase County will play No. 4 seed Cozad in the first subdistrict match Monday night. Hershey and Gothenburg will face off Monday in the later match.
Monday’s winners will play Tuesday in the championship.
Chase County Coach Sam Kennedy said focus will be the emphasis this week in practice as they look to subdistricts and their first match against a team with just one win.
“We need to stay focused and play Chase County volleyball not Cozad volleyball” next week, she said.
If they happen to meet Hershey in the subdistrict finals Tuesday night, that’ll be a fourth meeting this season.
Chase County has won all three previous matches against the Lady Panthers.
One team noticeably absent from the C1-11 subdistrict this year is Ogallala, who was moved to the C1-12.
Other teams in the C1-12 include Chadron, Gordon-Rushville and Mitchell. On Monday, Chadron looked to be the top seed in that subdistrict tourney.
Sub-state finals Nov. 2
All subdistrict champions next week—there will be 12—will qualify for the sub-state or district finals on Saturday, Nov. 2, along with teams with the four highest NSAA points after the subdistrict winners are removed.
Those 16 teams will be bracketed in a tournament with all eight matches on Nov. 2 at sites agreed upon between the two teams.
No. 1 seed will face No. 16, No. 2 will play No. 15 and so on to fill out that 16-team tournament.
All eight sub-state match winners will qualify for the C-1 state tournament Nov. 7-9 in Lincoln.
