Chase County 9-10 team hosts volleyball quad Monday
Chase County hosted a 9-10 volleyball quadrangular Monday, from which the Lady Longhorns emerged with a 2-1 finish.
The Lady Longhorns defeated teams from Sutherland and North Platte St. Pat’s, but fell to McCook.
In their opener against Sutherland, Chase County won in straight sets, 25-19 and 25-12.
They served 88% from the line (43-39) and tallied 14 aces, six from Joee Clevenger. Lucy Spady had seven of the team’s 16 kills as they finished with a -.019 hitting efficiency. Liz Reeves had 15 set assists.
Defensively, Spady picked up 15 of Chase County’s 28 digs.
It took all three games, but Chase County defeated NP St. Pat’s 25-17, 27-29 and 15-11.
Offensively, Chase County had a .136 hitting efficiency coming on 26 kills, 10 by Katie Lotspeich. They missed 12 serves (52-64) for 81% at the line, but scored seven aces, two each from Kourtnie Speaker and Reeves.
The team collected 39 digs on defense, 12 from Ali McNair. Reeves was credited with 26 set assists.
Chase County came out on the short end against McCook, 18-25 and 23-25.
They had strong serving at 90% (36-40) with six aces. Lotspeich scored three of them.
But hitting was in the minus category at -.042 as they scored 13 kills but had 15 errors. Lotspeich, Reeves and Spady had three kills each.
Reeves also had 13 set assists and McNair had 10 of the team’s 20 digs.
