The lady Longhorn Volleyball Team broke through with a win Tuesday Sept. 9 at home against Yuma. The Longhorns hadn’t been able to get that monkey off their back to get the first win and start things rolling.
All that changed Tuesday night when the Longhorns welcomed Yuma to town for the first match on the home court this year.
It looked like it might be a short night when the Longhorns came out and took the first two sets 25-14 and 25-15.
Even in the third set, the Horns looked like they were going to close it out, but a few unforced errors and some good play from the Yuma Outlaws brought them back from a 23-19 deficit, to win the third set 23-25.
The Longhorns snapped out of whatever happened in the end of the third set and finished the night off in the fourth set 25-17 to get their first win.
Riley Rusher led the hitters with 15 kills, Haley Rusher had 9 and freshman Jordyn Stafford had 8.
Dylan Heermann led in digs with 15, Karlie Anderson 14 and Aria McNair had 13.
Next action was at Sedgewick County Co. on Tuesday, Sept 16.
