CCS Volleyball picks up wins

Saturday, Sept. 20, the Longhorn Volleyball Team traveled to the McCook Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
The Horns picked up two wins and one loss in the tournament. In the first match of the day, the Horns beat Oberlin-Decatur County, (7-7),in two straight sets, 25-18 and 25-20.
In the second round, the Horns fell to Cambridge, (12-4), in straight sets, 25-22 and 25-20. That set up a match with Valentine, (4-5).
It was a very close match with the Badgers of Valentine. The Horns dropped the first set 23-25, but came back to win the next two, 25-22 and 25-20.
Tuesday, Sept. 23, the Lady Longhorns welcomed the Sidney Red Raiders to town for volleyball action. Class B Sidney came into the match with a 6-5 record.
Sidney started the night strong, winning the first set 25-19. The Lady Longhorns stole the momentum in the second set, winning it 25-17. The third set went down to the wire, with the Longhorns pulling out the win 28-26.
With momentum still on their side, the Longhorns finished strong, winning the fourth set 25-19, taking the match win 3-1, improving their record to 4-8.
Karlie Anderson led the offensive attack, with 20 kills, Riley Rusher nine, Avery Beemer eight, Hayley Rusher seven and Jordyn Stafford with five.
On defense, Miranda Spady was credited with three blocks while H. Rusher and Stafford each had one.
Anderson led in digs with 13, Aria McNair 11, Stafford and A. Reeves eight, H. Rusher 6, Kadence Wallin 5, Anna Aragon three, R. Rusher and Beemer two and Spady with one.
On Sept. 27, the Horns traveled to Sutherland for the Invitational.
