CCS Volleyball goes 4-3 this week

    Tuesday, Sept. 30, the Longhorns hosted the Gothenburg Swedes for volleyball action on the home court.
    The Swedes started the night strong , taking an early lead in the first set, but the Horns made a run late to tie the game at 17. Both teams fought for the win keeping it tied through 24, before Gothenburg strung two points together to take the set.
    That seemed to drain some energy from the Horns as they couldn’t seem to put any runs together, losing the second set 20-25 and dropping the third 16-25 to end the night.
    The Horns traveled to the Scottsbluff two day tournament on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3-4.
    On Friday, the Longhorns faced St. Thomas More in the first round. In a very tight match, the Longhorns got the three set win with scores of 25-20, 23-25 and 28-26.
    Up next on Friday was Chadron. After dropping the first set to the Cardinals 19-25, the Horns came back to win the next two, 25-23 and 25-23.
    In the third match Friday, the Horns faced the Ogallala Indians. The Indians swept the Horns in two sets 13-25 and 23-25.
    On Saturday, the Longhorns play North Platte in the first round. It took three sets but the Longhorns got the win, 22-25, 25-21 and 25-22.
    That matched up the Horns with Chadron again. This time it was all Chadron, sweeping the Horns in two straight sets, 20-25 and 11-25.
    In the final match
Saturday for the Horns, they played the host, Scottsbluff. It took three sets, but the Longhorns came out on top of the match with scores of 25-20, 16-25 and 25-20.
