CCS Longhorns back in action Friday

Chase County’s Longhorn football team will return to action for their season finale this Friday when they travel to face the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs.
Coronavirus forced the cancellation of their last two games against Hershey and Bridgeport.
As of Wednesday morning, coronavirus hasn’t affected the Gordon-Rushville game.
Coach Nathan Gaswick said it will be good to get back on the field.
He said the biggest challenge during the layoff has been trying to establish some type of normal routine.
During practices, he said each day they would be missing personnel at one or two key positions. That forced his staff to switch around a number of players to fit the puzzle back together again.
“I’d be lying if I said that it hasn’t been frustrating,” he said.
He praised his kids for adjusting to new positions and their willingness to learn. It’s just hard to teach the facets of a new position in a week, he added.
The Longhorns will be looking to cap off the season with their first win against the 2-6 Mustangs.
Gaswick said G-R looks a lot like the Longhorns so he expects his team to match up well.
They have an elusive quarterback the Longhorns will have to contain, he said.
Kickoff at Gordon Friday is set for 6 p.m. MT.
