CCS girls win C-5 District CC Championship

    The Chase County High School Girls Cross Country Team traveled to Ogallala Wednesday, Oct. 15 for the C-5 District Cross Country Meet, held at Crandall Creek Golf Course, and brought home the District Championship.
    The top four runners all placed in the top 15 for medals.
    For the boys team, Haven Hauxwell was the only State qualifier, finishing in sixth place.
    Spencer Kelley finished 29th, Bryce Mandeville 35th, Brandon Chavira Sanchez 38th, Hayden Worth 54th and Camden Kunnemann 57th. The boys team finished in sixth place.
    The top four runners for the girls all received medals. Addison Hauxwell was the top runner, finishing in fourth, followed by Alayna Smith in eighth, Tessa Smith in ninth and Liz Hanna in 15th. Zoey Kelley finished 42nd and Paige Nickless was 43rd.
    The State Meet will be held at Kearney Country Club on Friday, Oct. 24. The Class C girls race will be the second race of the day and is scheduled to start at approximately 12:30.
    The boys Class C race will be run fourth and is scheduled for  1:30.
    Following the conclusion of all the races, awards will be presented at a ceremony on the course.
    The school held a send-off rally for the runners in the gym on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 3:15.
