CCS falls to Sidney

The two time state playoff runner-ups from Sidney showed that they are poised to make another run at a state championship. The Red Raiders speed and strength was to much for the beaten up Longhorn team.
The Longhorns are building for the future, with alot of young players getting quality minutes of varsity playing time.
Sidney was able to move the ball at will on offense, scoring on their first seven possessions, before calling the dogs off. It was a class move by the Red Raiders to not run up the score.
The Longhorns couldn’t move the ball on offense at all. The
Sidney line shut down the run and when K. Paisley dropped to pass, he had no time to let things set-up because of the heavy pressure.
The Red Raiders scored six touchdowns in the first quarter. The first was a five yard run by the QB. The Longhorns blocked the extra point attempt. On the next possession, the Red Raiders connected for a 41 yard TD pass on the first offensive play.
After another three and out by the Longhorns, it took just two plays for Sidney to score on a 34 yard pass. The Horns were pinned deep on their next possession, and a snap over the head of Paisley resulted in the Red Raiders recovering the ball in the end zone for another touchdown.
Sidney tacked on a 12 and 42 yard TD run before the first quarter ended. On their first series of the second quarter, Sidney scored the last points of the game on a 21 yard pass.
The Longhorns were held to 73 total yards, 83 passing and minus 10 rushing, while Sidney had 153 yards passing and 186 yards rushing, for 339 total yards.
Next week, the Longhorns will welcome the Ogallala Indians to town on Friday, Oct. 17, for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off.
