Boys finish sixth in SPVA

    The SPVA Basketball Tournament was held Jan. 20-24. The Longhorn boys finished in sixth place.
    In the first round, the Longhorns faced Valentine on Tuesday, Jan. 20. It was a close game, but the Badgers of Valentine took the win 54-67, dropping the Longhorns into the consolation bracket.

    On Thursday, the Longhorns played the Perkins County Plainsmen. It was all Longhorns in this game, pulling out to a nine point lead in the first quarter and never looking back. The Horns won the game, 51-29, setting them up for a game against North Platte St. Pats for fifth and sixth place on Saturday.
    The boys fell behind by five in the first quarter against the Irish and couldn’t ever get caught back up, losing the contest, 37-40 and finishing the tournament in sixth place.
