Bluejays best Longhorns in C1-5 district final

Despite a higher seed, the Longhorns faced tough competition in the C1-5 district final last week against Ashland-Greenwood, where the Bluejays took the win, 54-28.
The teams played March 3 at Minden, with the Longhorns taking the home team side.
“We ran into a really good Ashland-Greenwood team that was full strength,” Chase County Head Coach Chris Bartels said.
“I don’t think they suffered any real injury throughout the year.”
Bartels commended the defensive pressure by the Bluejays, “which is how you defend us.”
Especially after injuries to key players on the Longhorn roster, Chase County pushed out and got points on the board via the three-point line.
“We made 205 (treys) this year,” Bartels said. “That’s a lot, but that’s how we won games.”
The Bluejays pushed their defense right up to the line, not giving much chance for any Longhorn to take a shot.
