Athletes start practice for cross country, football

Monday marked the first day Nebraska schools could officially begin falls sports practice. The football team has been doing conditioning in a morning practice and regular practice in the evenings. There are five boys and 10 girls out for cross country and 30 checked out for football. The Longhorns’ first cross country meet is Friday, Aug. 31 at Cambridge. The football team opens the season Friday, Aug. 24 at home against Gothenburg. (Johnson Publications photos)
