Athletes recognized at annual award ceremony

Coaches recognized Chase County High School’s athletes Saturday night during the Longhorn Boosters’ annual athletic awards banquet.
The event was held at the expo hall at the fairgrounds and featured a desert bar and refreshments.
Programs listed all participants in each sport, letter winners and other academic and athletic honors earned during the respective seasons.
One of the annual highlights of the event includes the naming of the Ray Magsamen Award given to the top boy and girl athlete.
This year’s recipients were Bryson Fisher and Destiny Reinke.
Activities Director Troy Hauxwell noted selection is based on grade point average, sports participation, post-season honors and years lettered in each sport, for which points are awarded.
Coaches of all 10 varsity sports receive a list of the point totals for all senior athletes for making their selection, also taking into account the athletes’ character, service and leadership to the school and to their sports.
Coaches from each sport recognized their athletes and announced special recognition awards.
