Allison Owings headed to Concordia

Concordia University in Seward gained another Chase County Schools (CCS) track athlete. Senior Allison Owings officially signed with the university on Monday this week. She’ll compete in the shot and weight events during the indoor season, and in the shot, discus and hammer throw in the outdoor season. Surrounding her during the signing ceremony at CCS were, seated at left, Ed McLaughlin, Concordia throws coach, and her dad, Justin Owings, seated right. Looking on from behind are her track coaches, at left, Girls Head Coach Troy Hauxwell and Dan Lenners, throws coach. In a few words before the signing, Hauxwell commended Concordia for the culture it has built not only in track but other programs, as well. He said Owings will be heading to Concordia after a great CCS career in both athletics and academics. (Johnson Publications photo)
