Young Americans to perform this weekend

Young Americans will be in Imperial for a workshop and show this week.
Young Americans, founded in 1962, is a charitable organization dedicated to the promotion of understanding and goodwill among people throughout the world through music, dance, performance, academic education and cultural interaction.
The cast will host a workshop for students at Chase County Schools today (Thursday) through Saturday.
CCS students in grades 3-12 can participate.
CCS music teacher Jodie Liess said there were 145 students registered on Monday.
While the registration normally cost $59, Pom-Poms will be donating $25 to each student toward the cost.
There remains a need for housing the visiting young adults.
“We could use four more home stay hosts (for the cast),” Liess said. If interested, contact Liess at the school at 308-882-4304.
Students will meet after school today, all day Friday and from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday to prepare for their performance that night with the full cast.
The Young Americans will perform by themselves from 7 to 7:45 p.m. and, at 8 p.m., the students and Young Americans perform together, Liess said.
Tickets for the concert—which will be held in the Longhorn gym—can be purchased at the end of rehearsal Thursday at 9 p.m. and Friday at 5:30 p.m. They can also be purchased at the door before the performance.
This will be the third visit of Young Americans to CCS.
The last performance was in November 2015, when 221 CCS students participated.
Before that, the group gave one of its three-day signature workshops in February 2013.
