Two Imperial FCCLA members move on to nationals

Chase County Schools was well represented at the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference April 2-4 in Lincoln.
Out of the 11 Chase County Chapter members who attended, five medaled.
Hayley Vitosh and Alexis Richmond received gold placing and won state championships. They will go on to nationals July 2-6 in Nashville, Tenn.
Vitosh and Richmond competed in Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) events. Vitosh competed in the senior Sports Nutrition and Richmond in the junior Sports Nutrition category.
The other STAR Chase County Chapter competitors were Ryley Vrbas and Mercedes Peterson in junior Life Event Planning who received silver and Gabrielle Krutsinger in junior Illustrated Talk who received gold.
All participants are judged based off of a rubric. If participants receive 90 to 100 points they receive a gold. However, whoever receives the highest amount of points in the gold category will be the state champion.
“These FCCLA members have worked extremely hard on their projects since last November. I couldn’t be more proud of their hard work and dedication they have put into their projects. These projects take a lot of time to complete and they did a great job,” said Chelsea Thayer, the school’s FCCLA sponsor.
