Two CCS sophomores on to State Science Fair

    The top three place-winners at the Chase County Science Fair in grades 7-12 were given the opportunity to compete in the Western Regional Science Fair in Curtis Feb. 26.
    CCS students competed with roughly 160 other students from other area schools including Hastings Adams Central, Cozad, Elwood, Eustis-Farnam, Gothenburg, Hemingford, Lexington, McCook, North Platte St. Pat’s, Ogallala, Perkins County and Wilcox-Hildreth in a variety of categories.
    Out of all the projects at the regional event, the top six junior high and top six high school projects qualified for the Nebraska State Science fair to be held at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln April 19.
    Two sophomores from Chase County qualified for state including Gabrielle Krutsinger, who tested how the type of flour in cupcakes affects their taste, and Carissa Hill, who tested to see if the brand of antibacterial soap determines its effectiveness at killing bacteria.
    The following CCS students received recognition for their projects in their entered categories, said science teachers Elisha Hinojosa and Jennifer Gonzales.
