TeamMates celebrates successful year of mentoring
It was a night of celebration Monday, as mentors and mentees of the TeamMates program at Chase County Schools (CCS) reviewed the past year and thanked people for their support.
Starting with an ice cream social, the program included six Friends of TeamMates awards, recognition of mentors and mentees who met at least 25 times and celebration of TeamMates’ 25th year.
Board President Sheila Stromberger said TeamMates could not happen without the pair of program coordinators they have in Trent Herbert and Cathy Hanna, who are also CCS guidance counselors.
She said they do a great job handling all the paperwork and coordinating the matches.
Each was presented a candy bouquet.
There were six individuals or businesses named Friends of TeamMates, and each received an inscribed memento.
The 2016-17 Friends of TeamMates are school secretary Sherri Wheeler, Supt. Joey Lefdal, Chase Co. Comm. Hospital, Frenchman Valley Coop, Subway and the city of Imperial.
Also recognized was the CCS administration—Supt. Lefdal and Principals Chad Scheel and Becky Odens.
“They are very supportive of the program and play a big role in TeamMates’ success,” Stromberger said.
