Students to compete at MCC paint-in

Eighteen CCS seniors entered artwork in annual MCC show

    McCook Community College’s annual paint-in competition for high school students is set for this Friday at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center.
    The competition is in conjunction with the art exhibition now showing at the Wrightstone Fine Arts Gallery on campus.
    CCS high school art teacher Chelsea Zuege said 18 of her senior art students have entered works in the exhibit, and a team of seniors will be in the paint-in, as well, on Friday.
    Students with works entered include Lauren Gockley, Stevie Johnson, Hayley Vitosh, Junior Caballero, Juan Venegas, Nikki Brown-Cravey, Kaley Hauxwell, Eli Hinojosa, Sydney Vetter, Clarissa Chaparro, Jade Allen, Kayla Schilke, Jaime Quezada, Andrea Page, Ragan Nickless, Madison Elliott, Abby Frias and Cydney Spady.
    The judge for this year’s student art show and the paint-in competition is Sondra Jonson, professional sculptor from Cambridge.
    In addition to Chase County Schools, others in the paint-in competition will be Southwest, Cambridge, Southern Valley, Eustis-Farnam, Norton, McCook, Hitchcock County, Medicine Valley, Sutherland, Wauneta-Palisade, Maywood, Wallace, Lexington, Blue Hill, Dundy Co. Stratton and Paxton.
    The paint-in begins at 9 a.m. CT with rules announcements, prize review and announcement of the paint-in theme.
