Small speech team gaining experience

Seventy-one entries were at Imperial’s speech meet on Jan 11
And, while only one Chase County student competed, she took first in her event.
Junior Tegan Towns won the poetry division.
“The combination of Christmas break and the first week back made it somewhat difficult for my other students to get ready,” Speech Coach Alex Schilke said.
Four other schools attended the meet, including Perkins County, Sutherland, Hershey and Hitchcock County. Perkins County won the meet, with Sutherland coming in second.
Schilke is anticipating eight Chase County students competing at the Wallace meet on Saturday.
