School planning July 25 graduation

A lot of details need to be worked out yet, but members of the Chase County Schools Class of 2020 will have a formal graduation ceremony afterall.
7-12 Principal Jon Lechtenberg said the ceremony will take place Saturday, July 25, at Chase County Schools beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Graduation ceremonies on May 9 were cancelled weeks ago when Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts closed all schools in the state, and suspended all schools activities, through May 31.
At this time, Lechtenberg said depending on how the COVID-19 recovery and reopenings progress, the July ceremony may, for example, be a family-only event.
“As the event gets closer, we will share crowd limitations,” if there are any, he said.
While a graduation ceremony is off the schedule for May 9, parents of CCS seniors are planning a special event that day.
A Class of 2020 graduation video will debut on the school website at 4:30 p.m. on May 9, Lechtenberg said.
Senior parents are also organizing a “Parade of Seniors” throughout the community on an established route, starting at 5:30 p.m.
That will be followed by a 6:30 p.m. cruise night honoring the Class of 2020.
More details will be announced next week.
