Nine CCS students earn NSAA academic all-state honors

Each year the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) and the Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association (NCPA) recognize students who have been nominated by their schools, based on their individual academic excellence, leadership and significant contributions made to their NSAA activity.
The NSAA and the NCPA recognize the 2,085 award winners of the 2020 Spring NCPA Academic All-State Award.
These nine Chase County students made the spring list of honorees:
    Boys’ golf—Brice Vitosh.
    Journalism—Yeraldin Almanza, Sophie Spady.
    Music—Stephen Johnson, Gabrielle Krutsinger.
    Boys’ track—Mikael Kuhlmann, Trevor Peterson.
    Girls’ track—Mallie McNair, Jozie Schilke.
According to the NSAA, the recent honorees bring the total number of NCPA Academic All-State Award winners statewide to over 79,000 in the 14 years of the awards program.
The following leadership and scholarship guidelines are used in the student selections by individual schools:
    1. A nominated student must be a varsity player or organizational leader who has played a significant role on the team or in the organizational activity during the seasons for which nominations are accepted.
    2. A nominated student must have a minimum cumulative GPA, in all curricular subjects, of 93% or 3.7 on a 4.0-point scale or the equivalent.
    3. NSAA high schools or their cooperative sponsorship may nominate a maximum of two students per NSAA activity program.
Students who meet these requirements and who were nominated by their school administration by May 1 earned the Academic All-State honor for the spring season.
