New third grade teacher at Chase County Schools

Taren Hendricks is a new third grade teacher on the Imperial school campus.
Hendricks was born and raised in Kimball.
Following high school graduation, she attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences in 2005 with an endorsement in Elementary Education. She additionally had a concentration in the area of special education.
Hendricks continued her education at the University of Nebraska-Kearney receiving a Master of Arts in Education with an endorsement in Reading PK-12, graduating in 2016. She then received her Nebraska Professional Teaching Certificate with an additional endorsement as Reading Specialist PK-12.
Her first position was in the Scottsbluff school system for the 2006-2007 school year as a Kindergarten teacher.
Hendricks met and married  her husband, Ryan, while teaching in Scottsbluff. Following the school year, they made their home in Grant, Ryan’s hometown.
She then took a teaching position in Ogallala from 2007 to 2010 as a Kindergarten teacher, once again.
After 2010, she stayed home to raise their three children until they reached school age.She continued her education during this time.
Hendricks and her husband, Ryan, a farmer and rancher in Grant, still reside there with their three children. Carter is now nine years old, Avery is seven and Reese is five, all attending school in Grant. She said she and her husband just celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary this past July.
This is her first year back teaching again. Hendricks commutes from Grant to Imperial every day, but she said she doesn’t mind the drive. In fact, it helps get her mind prepared for the day, she said. When driving home, it then allows her to unwind and decompress so that she can be mentally “present” with her family when she arrives, she added.
Henricks isn’t just a teacher and busy wife and mother, she also volunteers in Grant with TeamMates Mentoring, Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church Altar Society and as a Den Leader for her son’s Cub Scout Pack #160.
