March 24 blood drive in memory of Bridgette Odens

Chase County Schools (CCS)   is sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive Tuesday, March 24, in the auxiliary gym.
Donation times are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The goal for this drive is 96 units of blood, said Angie Paisley, CCS school nurse and school blood drive coordinator.
The March blood drive is in memory of Bridgette Odens.
Odens was a 2017 CCS graduate and a loyal blood donor.
Students who donate blood at least three times receive a red cord. Odens was a recipient of the red cord and wore it with her cap and gown at graduation.
In February 2019, Odens, a student attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, fell in her apartment which led to complications and a hospital stay.
Her treatment required surgeries which included blood transfusions.
Unfortunately, she passed away on March 1, 2019, but her family is carrying on her legacy of giving.
“We just want everybody to know that we miss Bridgette every day. We try to be thankful and concentrate on the fact that we had 20 years to love her. We also find great comfort in the fact that Bridgette knew she was greatly loved by her family and friends,” said her mother Becky Odens.
The entire community is invited to join Bridgette’s family in giving blood at the March 24 drive in her honor.
Appointments to give blood can be made online at redcrossblood.org, by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or contacting Paisley at 308-882-4228, but walk-ins are welcome.
To get a RapidPass on the day of a blood donation, donors should visit redcrossblood.org/rapidpass, complete the questionnaire, then print  their RapidPass and bring it with them.
The completed RapidPass form can be shown on a mobile device, as well, when they come to donate.
The entrance to the gym will be through the northeast doors.
As always, donors should bring a picture I.D.
