It’s time again for Kindergarten Round-up

Preparing to start school is an exciting time for children and their parents, especially for the first child.
Kindergarten Round-up day will be Friday, April 13, at Chase County Schools.
Children and parents should report to the auditorium at 8:45 a.m. for a short meeting, said Becky Odens, Elementary Principal at CCS.
“Items to be covered will be kindergarten registration, curriculum, school calendar, expectations and activities that your child will encounter during the upcoming year,” said Odens.
She said the teachers have put together a video to explain the standards that are used.
The teachers will be introduced and the children will be divided into three groups to go with each teacher for classroom activities.
The three groups will rotate with all three teachers during the morning.
Throughout round-up day, students will participate in learning activities and get to know all the kindergarten teachers, Odens said.
There are usually around 50 to 60 students who attend the round-up, she said.
New families in town with students beginning kindergarten next year are encouraged to come for the round-up.
“It would be good to contact the school ahead of time to give information about new students, but all are certainly welcome to come to round-up whether they call or not,” said Odens.
Odens requests that parents pick up their child promptly at 12 noon that day.
For questions, contact the school office at 308-882-4228.
Families that know their eligible child will not be attending school this fall are asked to contact the school as soon as possible, Odens said.
