CCS, WP One Act casts prepare for districts

With conference performances under their belts, the Chase County and Wauneta-Palisade One-Act Play Productions will perform at districts next week.
The SPVA Conference One-Act was hosted by Perkins County, but held at CCS Monday. Perkins County, Kimball and North Platte St. Pat’s choose not to bring teams.
CCS performed Sir Saddlesore and the Dragon by David J. LeMaster.
The synopsis from Brooklyn Publishers says, “Once upon a time, a beautiful princess was placed in the top of a tower where she would wait for a knight to rescue her—but along came a dragon instead! Now, Sir Saddlesore the Valiant must battle the evil dragon, Drano, to win the girl, save the kingdom, and restore peace and prosperity to the throne. A wild comedy with plenty of knights, wizards, dragons, serfs, kings, queens, and courtly love.”
Because of COVID-19 and the short turn around after the school musical, advisor Jill Bauerle said she opted for a fun play rather than one that would score well with the judges.
Bridgeport placed first, followed by Hershey, Sutherland and CCS.
Madelynn Hanes, Jordan Jablonski and Kaden Schilke earned awards, Bauerle said.
Districts for CCS will be held Dec. 1 at Bridgeport.
WP placed second at the Republican Plains Activities Conference (RPAC) competition Nov. 18 at Southwest.
WP performed Bayou by Matthew Carlin.
