CCS teachers pack up for summer

It was a different last day for teachers at Chase County Schools.
CCS has been closed to students since mid-March, with the majority of classes being taught via Zoom, which started the week of March 16.
On Friday, teachers cleaned up their rooms at the school, followed by a presentation and reception of retiring and resigning teachers.
It’s still unclear as to how the fall semester will start, whether it be in person following guidelines from the CDC or all via Zoom.
“Our job is to educate kids, to help kids and that’s what we’re going to do,” language arts teacher Alex Schilke said.
“So it’s weird not saying goodbye in person,” she added.
Fellow English teacher Jill Bauerle agreed.
“I want to see the kids,” she said. “It seems weird, but I actually missed the kids. I missed their faces, I miss their nonsense talk, I miss their complaining—just the energy of the room,” she said.
