CCS students qualify for honor bands

Five Chase County Schools band members have qualified for different honor bands.
The Oregon Trail Honor Band—an honor band through Doane University—will be held Jan. 13 at the western site in Alliance.
The Oregon Trail Honor Band is a director-recommended honor band, CCS Band Director Agnes Strand said.
There is no audition for this band.
Five high schoolers will attend including senior Stephen Johnson, juniors Getsemani Hinojoza and Heather Stumpff, and sophomores Ella O'Neil and Delaney Krutsinger.
O’Neil and Hinojoza also qualified for the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) Honor Band via audition.
Johnson qualified, by audition, for UNK’s Festival Band. Both those will take place Jan. 27.
The Holyoke, Colorado Honor Band—also on Jan. 27—will include Stumpff. She auditioned for that spot.
Stumpff also qualified for the High Plains Honor Band at Chadron State University, which will take place Feb. 2-3.
“We are still waiting for results from the Wesleyan Honor band as well as auditioning for Class C All-State in March,” Strand said.
