CCS students to present ‘Seussical’

    “Seussical,” a musical production written by Tony-winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, will be presented at two different performances Chase County Schools (CCS).
    Jodie Liess, the 1-4 an 7-12 vocal music teacher at CCS, will be directing the performances.
    The musical performances will be Thursday, Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Liess said.
    “The two writers have lovingly brought to life all the favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a boy with a big imagination—JoJo,” she said.
    Scenes include the Jungle of Nool, the Circus McGurkus and the invisible world of the Whos, Liess explained.
    The cast of characters includes Nike Smith as  the Cat in the Hat; Arturo Miscles Gamboa as JoJo; Gabbi Krutsinger as Mayzie; Valerie Herbert as Gertrude; Sydnie Allen as the Sour Kangaroo and Stephen Johnson as Horton the Elephant.
    The rest of the high school choir will be portraying the Bird Girls, the Wickersham Brothers and the Whos, Liess said.
    The cost of admission is $5 for adults and $4 for students
