CCS students prepped for ‘Seussical’ Thursday

Chase County Schools will present “Seussical” tonight (Thursday) with two performances at 5 and 7:30 p.m. at the CCS auditorium.
The musical, written by Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, brings to life many of Dr. Seuss’ characters.
CCS grade 1-4 and 7-12 vocal music teacher Jodie Liess is directing the performances.
Scenes include the Jungle of Nool, the Circus McGurkus and the invisible world of the Whos, Liess said.
The cast of characters includes Nike Smith as the Cat in the Hat; Arturo Miscles Gamboa as JoJo; Gabbi Krutsinger as Mayzie; Valerie Herbert as Gertrude; Sydnie Allen as the Sour Kangaroo; and Stephen Johnson as Horton the Elephant.
The rest of the high school choir will be portraying the Bird Girls, the Wickersham Brothers and the Whos, Liess said.
The cost of admission is $5 for adults and $4 for students.
