The Chase County speech team competed at Gothenburg this past weekend after adjusting its schedule last year. Originally, they attended a meet in Sutherland, and the team made the switch in hopes of gaining additional experience against bigger schools.
Illness limited the team’s roster, leaving Chase County with just two competitors for the meet. Senior Paige Nickless and junior Chloe Colton represented the school. They competed in three rounds throughout the day, since the meet did not include a finals round. Nickless competed in both Serious Interpretation and Humorous Interpretation. Her performance in Humorous earned her an eighth-place finish and a medal. Nickless also competed in Serious Interpretation. Colton competed in Entertainment Speaking.
Looking forward to the Longhorns, they have their next meet on February 14th in Mindin. The competition is set to start at 8:00 a.m. Central Time.
