CCS hosting next week’s SPVA quiz bowl

    The 2018 SPVA High School Academic Quiz Bowl Tournament will be held at Chase County Schools (CCS) next Thursday, March 15, starting at 3 p.m.
    CCS Coach Chelsea Zuege said all SPVA conference schools, besides CCS, are planning to participate including Bridgeport, Hershey, Kimball, North Platte St. Pat’s, Perkins County and Sutherland.
    The competition will be set up as a round robin tournament during which each team plays each other school once.   
    This is the first quiz bowl competition of the year for the CCS team. CCS team members include Noah Griffin, Giovanna Welsh, Landis Beverly, Allison Owings, Macy Coleman, Kadin Vrbas, Jim Sims, Brooklyn Christensen, Sadie Peterson, Alexis Richmond, Charles Barnes, Halle Fiedler and Chloe Soltis.
    The CCS team will also compete at the ESU #15 Quiz Bowl Tournament March 28 at McCook Community College.
    The public is invited to attend the next Thursday’s contest at the school, Zuege said. The competition will be held in selected high school classrooms.    
    The SPVA schools take turns hosting the tournament each year. The last time CCS hosted was 2012.
