Art students place in two division at MCC exhibit; paint-in team competes

Chase County Schools sent a number of high school artists to McCook Friday where they competed in the McCook Community College paint-in, and learned two students placed in the annual art exhibition.
CCS was among 19 teams competing at the paint-in competition, which followed an “In a Perfect World” theme.
While CCS students didn’t place in this year’s paint-in, they competed well, said CCS art teacher Chelsea Zuege.
Also on Friday, student artists were honored in seven categories in the MCC art exhibit held in conjunction with the paint-in.
Two from CCS placed in the exhibit as seniors Clarissa Chaparro took first in the mixed media division, while Ragan Nickless earned second in the drawing category.
Overall Best of Show at the exhibit went to Lexington High School’s Sierra Reicks and her work titled,  “Luis.”
Lexington won the paint-in competition, while Wauneta-Palisade placed second, Southwest was third and honorable mention went to Wallace.
