Count your Thanksgiving blessings every day

At first blush, I must admit it’s hard to find much to be thankful for in the strange year we call 2020.  Most of us are just thankful that the year is mostly in our rearview mirror as we head into Thanksgiving.
But I’m sure we could agree that being healthy is worth something during this year of pandemic as we are squarely in the middle of a coronavirus surge as predicted.
Thousands have died in the US and worldwide. More than 800 fellow Nebraskans have died because of the virus. Many had existing medical conditions that were worsened by it. I lost two friends to the disease.
This all means that Thanksgiving 2020 is going to be a masked-up, socially distanced affair with fewer than 10 people per party. Close families will likely gather. Casual acquaintances or groups of friends may opt for Zoom or one of the other virtual platforms that have become common household words. Holiday traditions will be forsaken in favor of, perhaps, new traditions.
Just as the pandemic has forced us to binge-watch TV and forego movie theaters, concert venues and dining out in favor of take-out, it has given us
