What do they really fear?

Why don’t they want more local control on such a volatile issue?

What are they afraid of? That question needs to be posed to the pro-abortion folks who are wringing their hands this week after a leaked U.S. Supreme Court document hinted the Justices may return abortion laws to the states. Actually, in some circles, there is more than hand-wringing—some are making threats if they don’t get their way on the soon-to-be-released decision.
        Why? Are they are afraid to give we, the people, the right to vote on the issue in our own states and elect officials who  mirror where we stand in the state where we live? I thought that’s what a Republic was.
        Abortion supporters are giving the impression if the leaked document proves accurate, and Roe vs. Wade is, in fact, overturned that abortion will be totally outlawed. That is NOT the case. It will actually return the authority to decide on abortion law to each of the 50 states.
    Why don’t they want more local control, especially on such a volatile issue? Because they would rather see  decisions on this life and death issue—yes, it does involve death, remember the child?—decided by nine people in black robes. They prefer their support of abortion to be forced on everyone, even though this country is split pretty much 50/50 on it.  
    Just less than half of the states already do have laws on the books that will ban abortion, or severely limit it, if the Supreme Court does overturn Roe vs. Wade. However, there are also numerous states in this country that will retain abortion on demand, or allow it up to a certain point. They too have legislation ready.
    There is no right to abortion in our Constitution—there is a right to life. Our Constitution reads: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”
    As I watched some of the news coverage early this week after the document was leaked—a reprehensible act in itself—I scanned the protesters for signs saying “My Body, My Choice.” I spotted some, then wondered where these folks were during the COVID vaccine mandate that forced people to take a vaccine or lose their jobs. “My Body, My Choice” for some reason didn’t apply then.
    I’m surprised at the number of women who are most vocal of possibly losing a woman’s “right” to an abortion.
    Here’s what Vice-President Kamala Harris said Tuesday: “Those Republican leaders who are trying to weaponize the use of the law against women. Well we say, how dare they? How dare they tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her own body? How dare they? How dare they try to stop her from determining her own future?”
    Maybe someone should ask the aborted child, half of them female, about their future. They certainly do not have a choice.
