It’s good to honor community-minded

Keep eyes open for those special local citizens.

Imperial has some outstanding community-minded people, both young and old, in its midst. The city of Imperial made a good move about 8 years ago to begin recognizing some of them as its annual Outstanding Citizens.
The formal presentation to the 2023 honorees came Monday night at the council meeting when Chelsea Zuege and Mason Tyerman were presented a pair of attractive awards. Former council member Chad Yaw presented the awards—he was the one that pushed the start of the awards when he sat on the council.
In a world where negativity and bad news seem to dominate, let’s not forget there is a lot of good news—and good people—around.
The city starts asking for nominees in December. Let’s all start watching our neighbors and friends now, and be ready for making a nomination later this year. It’s good to celebrate good people!
