Wilma Ruth Milner

Wilma Ruth Milner, born on July 3, 1937, to Wilmore and Mabel (Martin) Schiermeyer in Holyoke, Colorado, passed away on August 7, 2026. Her life spanned eighty-nine years marked by quiet strength and enduring grace.
Wilma grew up and attended school in Holyoke until she met and married the love of her life, Delmer Milner, her Junior year.  The couple married on February 13, 1954, and made their home in Champion Valley.  After some time, Wilma later obtained her GED, an accomplishment she was quite proud of.  From a young age, Wilma was dedicated to helping her partner on the farm and genuinely loved farm life.  Wilma embraced what it took to live in the country and was proud of it.  It was not uncommon for the family to butcher over 100 chickens on a Sunday afternoon and Wilma would still find time to cook a hearty meal and make sure everyone was fed.  It was well known, you never left Wilma’s house without being full.    
Wilma was always busy at home, taking care of her family, raising chickens, helping with farming operations when needed.  When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, baking and entertaining family and friends and in her younger years, fishing with her mom and brother.  Wilma served on the election board for many years and belonged to the extension club until it disbanded into monthly coffee. For some years she and Delmer enjoyed going dancing and playing cards with surrounding neighbors.  
She will be remembered for her resilience and kindness, attributes that defined her relationships and her approach to life’s challenges. Wilma’s gentle presence, heartfelt encouragement, and unwavering support made her a cherished companion and friend.
Wilma is survived by her sons, Robert (Jippi) Milner and Charles Milner; daughters, Jayne (Neil), Henry and Mary Ann (Ivan) Kenter; her brother, Bill Schiermeyer; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delmer and sister Janette (Johnny) King.  
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 18th at 10:00 a.m. (MT) at Imperial Methodist Church, 420 Holland Street Imperial.  Visitation was held one hour prior.  Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.  
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice in memory of Wilma.
