Wilma Ellene McCamley

On July 21, 2025, the gentle, kind, caring spirit of Wilma Ellene McCamley escaped the bonds of her earthly body and entered the unknown universe firm in her belief to be joining her parents and siblings in Heaven, to watch carefully over those she left behind. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Earl and Martha Ida (Newman) Carrick, siblings Gladys, Norman, Phyllis and Steven, and stepson Craig Harris. She is mourned by her forever husband Bill, surviving siblings Betty (Sal) Hernandez and Bill (Maria) Carrick, and a huge family created of children, stepchildren, adopted and foster children and over fifty grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is mom to Doug (Jacque), Mike (Lenore), and Melanie Weatherly, Craig Harris and Valerie Harris, Julie (Bob) Long, Michael McCamley, Mandy (Ronnie) Schmidt, Sheila Wright, Wallace Dodson, and Scott “Junior” (Andrea) Wilson. All are equally loved.
Wilma was born in Gothenburg and lived in Cozad and Imperial until moving with Bill to Lincoln in 1987. Wilma was the ultimate professional in her work at Chase County Community Hospital and the City of Lincoln Building and Safety Department, but her greatest loves were her family, her home, and her garden. She also loved travel and music, never failed to marshal her flock to a Christmas Festival of Lessons and Carols at First Plymouth, and doted over any child who needed attention.
She was honored at a memorial celebration at 2:00 on Saturday, August 9, at First Plymouth Church in Lincoln. Video https://vimeo.com/event/5281906. Her cremains will be held to await her husband’s, to be joined together as a symbol of their life commitment.
