Vernon Wayne Splitt was born on April 20, 1931 to John and Esther (Jaeger) Splitt in Imperial, Nebraska. He lived in Imperial most of his life and was a custom home builder.
Wayne married Margaret Andrews on Aug. 12, 1949, and they recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. To that marriage Rex Splitt was born.
Wayne served in Korea in the Army in 1951 and 1952. While in Imperial he built over 120 homes in the Chase County area from the early 1960’s to the early 1990’s.
In 1993 Wayne and Margaret moved to Louisiana to retire and fish. Wayne had a stroke in 1995, so in 1996 they moved to Craig, Colorado. to be closer to Rex, and later followed Rex to Littleton Colorado in 2001 where they have resided since.
Wayne passed away Dec. 1, 2018 at the Porter Hospice Residence in Centennial, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Esther Splitt.
Survivors include his wife Margaret; sister Betty Terryberry of Imperial; son Rex (Jayne) of Littleton, Colorado; grandsons Eric (Gina) Splitt and children Crosby, Oakley and Harley of Denver, Colorado and Jonathan (Sonya) Splitt of Littleton, Colorado; and numerous friends, nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Imperial.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Imperial with Father Lothar Gilde celebrating. Interment will follow services at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home in Imperial.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Mount Hope Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, P.O. Box 637, Imperial, NE 69033
