Ruth Alleen Haarberg
Ruth was born in Imperial, Nebraska, on April 11, 1947, to Herman (Pete) and Rachel Haarberg. She went Home to be with her Lord in her sleep after a short battle with recurring cancer on July 14, 2018, at the age of 71.
She grew up on the family farm near Enders with three brothers and two sisters before moving to town in Imperial.
She loved riding her horse named Pal, playing softball and spending time with family.
Ruth graduated from McCook Beauty School in 1966, and spent the next 52 years styling hair and making ladies beautiful in various beauty shops as well as in nursing homes and manors.
She continued hairstyling right up to the time she started chemo treatments in June. She made many friends while styling hair in Imperial, Aurora Colorado, Carson City Nevada, Laughlin, Nevada and the last many years in Sterling, Colorado.
She enjoyed bowling in leagues before her rheumatoid arthritis threw her a ‘gutter ball’ and absolutely loved dancing, often traveling to other towns and communities to dance.
Ruth was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, and with the treatment recommended by the University of Colorado Hospital, God blessed her with thirteen more years of life.
She loved her family and is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerry Haarberg, and nephew Elisha Sanchez.
Ruth is survived by brothers Ron (Cherie) Haarberg, Steve Haarberg and sister Mary Haarberg, all of Buena Vista Colorado and sister Gloria Sanchez of Tulsa Oklahoma, five nieces and nephews, three great-nieces, and long time companion Sam Ebel. Her smile and little laugh will be remembered with love.
Her memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 732 Clark Street in Sterling, Colorado at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, with a luncheon to follow.
Private inurnment of cremains will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Enders. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to:
