Roger Louis Crumrine passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2021 after a prolonged health condition. He was born in Imperial, Nebraska on Dec. 10, 1962 to Don and Erma (Lawler) Crumrine, the fifth of six children.
He grew up and attended school in Imperial playing trombone for the school band, enjoying the small-town life, helping with his father’s business, fishing at Enders and Lake McConaughy and the occasional duck hunting.
Roger later attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he earned his bachelor of science degree in Construction Management in May of 1986. He graduated as a member of the Sigma Lambda Chi Construction Honorary Society.
During his summer breaks while attending the university, he worked as a road surveyor for the Nebraska Department of Roads. With that job, he traversed almost all the highways in the state. Even after many years he could recall, with his famous memory, details about almost all the roads and the cities, towns and hamlets across the state.
After graduation, he worked a year as an assistant building inspector for the City of Lincoln and as a roofing project estimator for a private company in Lincoln.
In 1988, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he was employed for 15 years as a construction codes inspector for the City of Kansas City. He performed municipal code compliance inspections for family and commercial projects for building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, fire and elevator installations. He was a NAESAI certified elevator inspector and really enjoyed that aspect of the job.
In 2005, he relocated to Houston, Texas to live with his older brother, Mike, and worked as a quality control tester for a computer server manufacturer. He then was employed with TDE Petroleum Data Solutions as a data QC specialist in Sugar Land, Texas where he worked alongside his brother, Mike, from 2008 to 2018.
His colleagues remember him as a kind and earnest co-worker with a sharp memory for details. Roger enjoyed the benefits of city life during his days in Kansas City and Houston, attending sporting and other special events, concerts, public parks and the many business lunches with colleagues.
Through all this, he always maintained his faithful alumni following of the University of Nebraska football program.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Don Crumrine, in July of 2010 and his mother, Erma Crumrine, in November of 2014.
He is survived by his sister, Deborah (Crumrine), and her husband, Mike Martin of Ogallala; his brother, Ronald Crumrine of Vero Beach, Florida; his sister, Connie (Crumrine), and her husband, David Howard of Sunol; his brother, Michael Crumrine of Sugar Land, Texas; and his sister, Shari (Crumrine) Rollenhagen of Wallace; nieces, Colonie (Martin) Wiley of Ogallala, Katrina (Martin) Isom of Scottsbluff, Megan Martin of Ogallala, Lisa Martin of Ogallala, Sara (Rollenhagen) and her husband, Cody McBride of Wallace, Theresa Crumrine of Vero Beach, Florida, and Heather Howard of Eckley, Colorado; nephews, Jason Howard and his wife, Sheila of Sidney, Sean Howard and his wife, Chelsi of North Platte, Loyd Rollenhagen of Wallace and Luke Rollenhagen of Wallace.
He is also survived by a number of grand-nieces and grand-nephews. As Roger never liked to be the center of attention, per his wishes there will be no official funeral services. He requested that his ashes be spread in a chosen location near his hometown which will take place at a later date.
