Nettie Jane Sheldon

Nettie Jane (Fisher) Sheldon died Nov. 17, 2017, at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo. Nettie was born July 21, 1931, to Loren and Cora (Trembly) Fisher at the family home in the Beecher Island area. She was the second child of seven children.
She attended first through eighth grade at District South Willow No. 97, a country school that was one and a half miles from their home. They walked or rode a horse to get to school.
She attended high school at Wray High School and graduated in May of 1949. While attending high school, Nettie met LaVerne Sheldon, and they were married at her parents’ home June 5, 1949. They moved to a house that was built for them on LaVerne’s parents’ farm north of Wray, Colo., where they raised their family and lived their entire married life. To this union four children were born: Dennis, Nancy, Lois and Susie.
Nettie moved to her home in Laird, Colo., in 1999 following LaVerne’s death. She lived in Laird until January of 2016 when she moved to Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colo., where she lived until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Cora; husband, LaVerne; son, Dennis; two grandsons, Edward Paul Sheldon and J.D. Sheldon; grandson-in-law, Steve Schlotthauer; brother, Everett; and brother-in-law, Richard Trast.
Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Nancy Reynolds of Venango, Neb., Lois (Dan) Donohue of Bird City, Kan., and Susie (Tom) Quint of Akron, Colo; daughter-in-law, Sue Sheldon of Chase, Kan.; grandchildren, Debbie (Kirk) Glen of Ellinwood, Kan., Rob (Susie) Spring of Derby, Kan., Dedra Schlotthauer of Ellinwood, Colo.,Tracy Reynolds and friend Lucio Rincon of Alamosa, Colo., Bobbie Magee of Broken Bow, Casey (Carrie) Donohue of Bird City, Colo., Scott (Grace) Donohue of West Point, Justin Quint of Akron, Colo., Jennifer (Brandon) Wyckoff of Minatare, Jessica (Ty) Lebsock of Yuma, Colo. and Josh Quint of Laird, Colo.; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Viros (Gary) Beverlin of Granby, Colo., Gracie Trast of Lakewood, Colo., and Doris (Phil) Osmus of Wray, Colo.; brothers, Stan (Barb) Fisher of Holyoke, Colo. and Eldon (Edith) Fisher of Chadron, special friends and neighbors, Marv and Mary Ann Carlock; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Nov. 24 at First Christian Church in Wray, Colo., with Pastor Steve Wynkoop officiating.
