Leon James Statz

    Leon James Statz, 72, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at his home in Lebanon, Ky.
    He was born Jan. 13, 1945 in Imperial, Neb., to Frederick Wilhelm Statz and Dorothy (Knight) Statz.
    Leon graduated from Chase County High School in 1962 and then served four years in the United States Navy.
    After his retirement from Johnson Motors his passion was restoring cars.
    Survivors include his wife, Jean, of Lebanan, Ky.; sons Fred (Tina) Statz of Norfolk, Va. and Kevin (Nancy) Statz of Hebron, Ind.; daughters Terry Hampton of Elgin, Ill., Christina Pope of Florida and Tiffany Lang of Silver City, Nev.; brothers Robert (Barbara) Statz of Chandler, Ariz. and Louis “Bud” (Sharon) Statz of Champion; sisters Pauline Patterson, Mary “Kathy” Hern (Perry Peradotto) of Tucson, Ariz. and Carla Croner of Imperial; sisters-in-law Ann Statz of Fremont and Linda Statz of Holyoke, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
    Leon was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Harold, Frederick “Bill” and Ralph; and sister, Ruth.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 14 at Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon, Ky. Interment took place at Lebanon National Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Dr. David Whitlock officiated.
    Memorials may be made to Imperial Volunteer Fire Dept. or Wounded Warriors.
    Bosley Funeral Home of Lebanon, Ky., was in charge of arrangements.
